I was traveling through the Columbia Gorge recently and encountered this adrenaline event: the Maryhill Freeride! This two-day event near Goldendale offers downhill skaters, boarders and gravity bikers 2+ miles of winding, twisty pavement free of vehicles and all downhill. That ride looks way cool, but otherwise gravity bikes are about as much use as Bonneville flat racers. Single purpose built machines. One wonders if you "could" put a pedal arrangement so that you could pedal while lying flat face forward.
